NAF Airstrikes Neutralize Terrorists in Niger and Borno States

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) announced that airstrikes conducted by the Air Components of Operations Hadin Kai and Whirl Punch in the Northeast and North Central regions respectively have successfully neutralized terrorists and obliterated their structures.
According to NAF spokesman Edward Gabkwet, insurgents were neutralized on May 3, 2024, at Chinene, situated within the Mandara mountain area near Borno State. The terrorists were spotted assembling, presumably for a meeting, before they were targeted and neutralized.
Gabkwet stated, “Within the same location, 7-gun trucks were also observed parked under trees. Accordingly, air interdiction was authorized and conducted over the assembly area and tree coverings to decimate the terrorists and destroy their weapons and mobility.”
He added that subsequent Battle Damage Assessment footages confirmed the success of the strikes, with several terrorists neutralized and their logistics destroyed.
Additionally, NAF reported the neutralization of terrorists in Allawa village, near Shiroro in Niger State, on the same day. The mission was prompted by credible intelligence indicating the influx of terrorists into the village following the mass exodus of locals due to safety concerns.
Gabkwet elaborated, “These terrorists had, on May 1, 2024, attacked the deserted Allawa community in the Shiroro Local Government Area (LGA) and set fire to the Central Primary School. In the evening of the same day, another group of terrorists also arrived at the location, armed with AK-47/49 rifles after invading Galapai village in Galadima Kogo District of the same LGA.”
To prevent further occupation and pursue the terrorists, the Air Component launched airstrikes targeting the terrorists at the location. Additionally, based on credible intelligence and detailed aerial observation, NAF conducted further airstrikes targeting the terrorists’ cache of arms hidden inside Allawa Forest.
These operations signify NAF’s commitment to combating terrorism and ensuring the safety and security of affected regions in Nigeria.
