President Bola Tinubu departed Abuja on Saturday for Lagos, marking the start of a series of project inaugurations completed under his administration. The week-long event will commemorate the first anniversary of his administration on Wednesday, May 29.
A State House press statement titled “President Tinubu Set To Inaugurate Projects To Mark One Year In Office,” signed by Special Adviser for Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, revealed the details of the commissioning schedule.
In Lagos on Sunday, President Tinubu will inaugurate the concrete-paved road to the nation’s major ports in Apapa and Tin Can Island. This reconstructed road, financed by the Dangote Group using its tax credits, began under the Muhammadu Buhari Administration.
On the same day, the President will virtually inaugurate the refurbished Third Mainland Bridge, acclaimed for its excellent finishing and aesthetic furnishing. He will also commission the rehabilitation of 330 roads and bridges across the country.
The highlight of Sunday’s events will be the inauguration of the Lagos-Calabar Superhighway, an iconic project estimated to cost about N15 trillion. This legacy project will connect nine coastal states, with Section Two already awarded to Hitech Construction Limited.
President Tinubu will return to Abuja on Tuesday to continue the commissioning spree. On his agenda are the Southern Parkway, named after him by the Nyesom Wike-led FCT Administration, and the unveiling of the National Assembly Library Complex.
On Wednesday, President Tinubu will attend the National Assembly Dialogue Series before relaunching the commercialisation of the Abuja Light Rail, also known as Abuja Metro. The Abuja Metro, completed in 2018 by the Buhari Administration, was put out of use due to COVID-19 and vandalism but has now been refurbished for commercial service by FCT Minister Wike.
After a symbolic train ride to the city center, the President will inaugurate the Wuye Flyover-Link Bridge and the Defence Intelligence Agency Headquarters.
The week will conclude with the commissioning of the NASENI-Portland Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Reverse Engineering Centre in Utako on Friday, May 31.
This extensive series of inaugurations highlights the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and marks a significant milestone in President Tinubu’s first year in office.
