The Delta State Police command has issued a public warning about the hazards of generator fumes, urging caution and vigilance. This alert comes after a tragic incident in which a mother and son lost their lives due to generator use inside their home during rainfall. According to a statement released by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, on Wednesday via his social media platform said the fatal incident occurred two days prior in Asaba, the state capital, while the daughter is currently receiving medical treatment at a nearby hospital.
The statement emphasized, “Generator fumes pose a significant threat to life, and it is crucial to take necessary precautions.” The police spokesperson explained that the mother and son succumbed to suspected carbon monoxide poisoning from generator emissions after moving the generator inside their home during the rain. The daughter was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of generator fumes, and the police urge the public to learn from this tragic event and take necessary steps to ensure safety. This is not an isolated incident in Delta, and the police stress the importance of education and awareness to prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future.
