Martins Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan or VDM, is scheduled to appear in court today facing allegations of impersonation linked to his unauthorized use of Nigeria Police Force uniforms in a viral video.
The controversial video features VDM referring to himself as CSP VeryDarkMan and claiming to be Nigeria’s “number one online police officer.” The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) condemned his actions in a recent post on its X account, which raised concerns about the misuse of police symbols.
The prosecution is being led by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, which has emphasized the importance of maintaining the integrity of police uniforms. The public is encouraged to stay informed as the legal proceedings unfold.
The NPF’s statement noted, “Martins Otse is set to appear in court today following allegations of impersonation related to the unauthorized use of Nigeria Police Force uniforms in a viral social media video.”
In a related development, VeryDarkMan was detained by police on Thursday after responding to an official summons. Although the specific nature of his alleged offense remains unclear, his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, confirmed the detention via a post on X. Adeyanju stated that VDM had previously honored a similar police invitation the day before.
In his post, Adeyanju mentioned, “Our client, VDM, has been detained after honoring a police invitation just like yesterday. VDM has been consistent in stating that the Nigerian Police are our friends, even when we all know they are not.”
