Trump Campaigns in Michigan After Foiled Assassination Attempt

Donald Trump is hitting the campaign trail once again, with a scheduled stop in Michigan just two days after a suspected assassination attempt was foiled at his golf course in Florida. Meanwhile, his Democratic opponent, Kamala Harris, is also in action, heading to Pennsylvania, a key battleground state, where she’ll speak with the National Association of Black Journalists and later Hispanic media.
The Republican nominee, who has recently faced two assassination scares, was swiftly removed from his Florida golf course by Secret Service agents after a gunman was discovered on Sunday.
Both Harris and Biden have condemned the apparent assassination bid, with Harris stating, “violence has no place in America.” Despite the heated climate, both candidates are focusing on pivotal swing states, with a new poll showing Harris holding a slight lead over Trump in Pennsylvania. This comes as both campaigns have navigated a particularly tense election cycle, including earlier assassination threats and bomb scares aimed at immigrant communities in Ohio.
Tensions also remain high following Trump’s controversial July remarks, where he questioned Harris’s racial identity, claiming she “happened to turn Black” for political advantage due to her Indian and Jamaican heritage. This exchange is likely to resurface when Harris addresses the NABJ.
The race between Trump and Harris remains close, especially in critical swing states, where every move is under intense scrutiny.
