Easter, a significant Christian festival, marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ, symbolizing triumph over sin and death. President Bola Tinubu extends his warm wishes to Christians in Nigeria and worldwide as they observe this sacred occasion.
In his Friday statement, Tinubu emphasized the importance of embracing love, sacrifice, and compassion during the Easter season. Presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale conveyed, “President Tinubu highlights love, sacrifice, and compassion as the defining themes of this holy period, underscoring Jesus Christ’s selfless sacrifice as a lesson for leaders and all Nigerians.”
Since assuming office in May, President Tinubu’s administration has implemented various policies impacting the economy and the general populace. Notably, Tinubu abolished fuel subsidies and currency controls last year, resulting in a threefold increase in petrol prices and a surge in living costs, with inflation reaching 31.70%, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
Despite these challenges, the administration continues to urge Nigerians to exercise patience, asserting that these reforms will attract more foreign investment to Africa’s largest economy.
In his Easter message, President Tinubu commended Nigerians for their resilience and sacrifices during these trying times, emphasizing their crucial role in economic recovery. “The President applauds Nigerians for their sacrifices, assuring them that their patience and perseverance will yield positive outcomes. As Christians celebrate life’s victory over death through Christ’s resurrection, President Tinubu reaffirms his administration’s unwavering commitment to overcoming Nigeria’s challenges,” the statement concluded.
