Oyebanji Encourages Ekiti Motorists to Adopt CNG Technology

Written by on September 17, 2024

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji highlighted the advantages of the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) initiative, emphasizing its potential for a “cleaner environment” and “cheaper fuel for the people.” His comments came during the opening of a weeklong Skill Development and Training for Auto Technicians on converting petrol vehicles to CNG-powered ones.

The training, a joint effort between the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) and the state government, is part of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative, which includes the conversion of petrol vehicles to CNG and the distribution of conversion kits across states.

Represented by Commissioner for Infrastructure and Public Utilities Prof. Mobolaji Aluko, Oyebanji noted that the collaboration between the Federal Government and the state ensures that Ekiti remains at the forefront of this initiative. He encouraged residents to adopt CNG for its cost and environmental benefits.

“The President Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government and the state government are working together to make sure Ekiti State benefits fully from this initiative,” Oyebanji said. He added that the state is already using CNG for its independent power plant and urged vehicle owners to embrace CNG for its economic advantages.

NADDC Director General Joseph Osanipin emphasized that the training aims to build capacity and upgrade skills for technicians and youths to adapt to the evolving automotive industry. He noted that the CNG initiative, established by Tinubu, is part of efforts to mitigate the effects of fuel subsidy removal on Nigerians.
