Ondo, Anambra Athletes Shine in 100m Finals at National Youth Games

Young athletes showcased their talents on day four of the 2024 National Youth Games in Asaba, with Team Ondo’s Olumide Ibikunle and Anambra’s Rosemary Nwankwo claiming victories in the boys and girls 100m events, respectively.

Ibikunle secured gold for Ondo in the boys’ final, clocking 11.20s, while Muyideen Adeniji from Ogun State finished second with 11.37s, and Delta’s Jacob Olumor came third at 11.38s.

In the girls’ final, Nwankwo dominated the race, crossing the line in 12.24s to claim the top spot for Anambra.

The boys’ 1500m event saw Plateau’s David Gyang win gold with a time of 4:12.11, while in the girls’ 1500m, Cross Rivers’ Godsmind Eteng overtook Plateau’s Nerat Sambo to secure gold with a time of 4:56.61. Sambo settled for silver, while Ogun’s Aanu Ige took bronze.
