NSCDC Promotes Officer Who Returned Missing ₦850,000

A remarkable display of integrity by Abubakar Abdulkadir Mayos, a personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has earned him widespread praise and an immediate promotion. Mayos discovered and returned a lost bag belonging to Maimuna Salihu, a pilgrim from Taraba State scheduled for airlift to Saudi Arabia for the 2025 Hajj via Yola International Airport.

In a time when personal gain often overshadows principle, Mayos’ swift and selfless action has been celebrated as a rare act of moral courage. Rather than exploit the situation, he chose to uphold the highest standards of honesty, reflecting positively on the image of the Corps.

During a commendation ceremony, senior officials lauded Mayos for exemplifying the values enshrined in the Corps’ ethos. “In an era where shortcuts are tempting and appearances often mislead, CAII Abubakar Abdulkadir Mayos has demonstrated what it truly means to act with integrity,” a statement from the Corps read.

His commendable deed elicited gratitude from his peers, admiration from superiors, and acclaim from the broader public. In recognition of his honesty, the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, PhD, Mni, OFR, approved Mayos’ immediate promotion from Corps Assistant II to Corps Assistant I.
