National Grid Collapses Again, Marking 10th Incident in 2024

The national grid has collapsed again as Nigerians await full power restoration, marking the 10th incident of its kind since January 2024, according to PUNCH Online.

As of  Thursday 7th November 2024  at 11 a.m., 22 power plants were generating just 2,323 megawatts of electricity, with production dropping to zero later in the day. The peak generation for Thursday reached 3,743MW by 10 a.m.

The Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) reported a power outage at 11:29 a.m., stating: “Dear Esteemed Customer, please be informed that we experienced a system outage today, 7 November 2024, at 11:29 hrs, affecting supply within our network. Restoration of supply is ongoing in collaboration with our critical stakeholders. Kindly bear with us.”
