Written by on November 15, 2024

Nigerian gospel film director Mike Bamiloye has shared a heartfelt tribute to Moses Korede Are, fondly known as “Baba Gbenro,” following the actor’s passing.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, Bamiloye, founder of Mount Zion Faith Ministries, recounted their final conversation before Korede Are was hospitalized. “When he was being taken to the hospital, he said, ‘Please, greet my friend for me. Daddy, I will be well. Don’t let this discourage you from calling me on film location,” Bamiloye wrote.

Reflecting on Korede Are’s unwavering dedication to gospel drama, Bamiloye described him as a faithful servant in God’s vineyard. “Our employer in this vineyard is Jesus Christ. He alone knows our closing time at work,” he said.

The actor was actively involved in Abejoye Season 8 and Abattoir 5 before his health deteriorated. Bamiloye reflected on the spiritual lesson from his passing, urging others to consider, “When will the Master call you to come home and say: IT IS CLOSING TIME?”

Bamiloye called Korede Are’s transition a “gain for Heaven,” adding, “He died here and woke up there eternally, resting from series of movie shoots and learning of many lines.”

The death of Korede Are, whose memorable portrayal of Baba Gbenro in Abattoir resonated deeply with audiences, was announced by fellow actor Oluwaseun Adejumobi on Instagram. Bamiloye’s tribute underscores the actor’s legacy as a committed servant of God, leaving an enduring impact on gospel film ministry.
