Mbappe Excluded from France Squad for UEFA Nations League Matches

Written by on November 7, 2024

Kylian Mbappe has been left out of France’s squad for their upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against Israel and Italy.

Coach Didier Deschamps did not include the Real Madrid star, marking his absence from the national team for the second consecutive selection after also missing October’s matches against Israel and Belgium.

The 25-year-old had previously been rested to recover from a thigh injury but returned to play for Real Madrid before France’s fixtures, stirring controversy. Reports of an investigation by Swedish authorities for alleged rape surfaced after Mbappe took a brief trip to Stockholm, which he and his lawyer have denied, calling the claims “fake news.”

Mbappe has since made four appearances for Real Madrid, scoring once, but remains below his peak performance level.
