Written by on November 28, 2024

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed multiple establishments, including churches, hotels, bars, and bakeries, in areas such as Mushin, Amuwo Odofin, and Okota Isolo for failing to adhere to the state’s environmental laws.

In a statement shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday, LASEPA explained that the closures were part of ongoing efforts to combat noise pollution and other environmental infractions in Lagos.

Among those shut down were: Daily Bakery, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Gak Universal Allied Limited, Ideal Standard, Franjane Royal Suites, Golden Haven Resort & Suites, Festival Hotel Conference Centre & SPA, FS Service Centre, Moulin Rouge Ventures at Olivia Mall

LASEPA’s General Manager, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, emphasized the agency’s commitment to maintaining a healthier environment:

“Environmental protection is a shared responsibility. As a government agency, we are dedicated to enforcing all necessary measures to ensure compliance with environmental laws.”

He highlighted the detrimental effects of noise pollution and improperly sited hazardous facilities, urging businesses to adopt sustainable practices to safeguard public health and quality of life.

Dr. Ajayi encouraged residents to report environmental violations through LASEPA’s official channels, emphasizing collective action as vital to protecting the environment.

This enforcement drive underscores LASEPA’s zero-tolerance approach to environmental violations, reinforcing its dedication to fostering a safer and more sustainable Lagos.
