The Lagos State Police Command has detained a man, whose identity has been withheld, for allegedly killing his neighbor and her son following an argument over environmental sanitation in the Lekki area of the state.
According to the command’s spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the incident occurred on Saturday night, around 10:50 p.m. He confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine what the suspect used to carry out the crime.
Hundeyin explained that police at the Elemoro division received a report on September 15 about the altercation between the suspect and a woman, identified as Gloria, over the cleaning of their environment. The dispute escalated, leading to the tragic deaths of Gloria and her son.
The suspect reportedly attempted to dispose of their bodies by placing them in a large sack, but his plan was foiled when other neighbors alerted the police, who quickly arrived at the scene, arrested the suspect, and recovered the bodies.
The bodies have been taken to the Epe General Hospital mortuary for autopsy and preservation. Police detectives are continuing their investigation into the incident.
