In a significant legal development, the former Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele, has been granted bail amounting to N50 million after facing charges comprising 26 counts related to alleged abuse of office and irregular allocation of $4.5 billion and N2.8 billion, respectively.
The bail ruling was delivered by Justice Rahmon Oshodi on Friday, following a hearing concerning Emefiele’s case. Emefiele’s bail conditions entail providing two sureties who must each deposit the same sum as the bail amount.
