Federal High Court Launches Online Portal for Affidavit Procurement

The Federal High Court (FHC) in Lagos has unveiled a new online portal for public affidavit procurement, modernizing its services in line with global digital best practices.

During a visit to the court’s Lagos division on Friday, Deputy Chief Registrar Mr. Godwin Longe facilitated an inspection of the court’s newly established ICT department, which is overseen by Mr. Agwu Charles. Agwu explained how the public can access the service.

“It is now possible to process affidavits for loss of items, age declarations, name changes, and other similar documents via the portal at portal.fhc.gov.ng,” Agwu said. “All you need to do is log in to the site and follow the instructions.”

DCR Longe clarified that, for now, the portal only processes non-case-related affidavits, while those supporting legal cases will still need to be filed manually. “Affidavits filed to support a case are still done manually due to the unique nature of those documents,” Longe stated.

He emphasized that people no longer need to be physically present to obtain certain types of affidavits. “They don’t necessarily have to come to the court to procure the mentioned affidavits,” Longe reiterated.
