Emir of Tikau in Yobe State Dies at 70

The demise of the Emir of Tikau in Yobe, Alhaji Muhammadu Abubakar Ibn-Grema, has been confirmed by his younger brother, Alhaji Abubakar Talba. Talba, who is also a prince of the Tikau Emirate Council, disclosed the news to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Damaturu on Saturday.

According to Talba, the Emir passed away in Potiskum around 4 pm on Friday following a brief illness. He noted that the Emir was over 70 years old at the time of his death.

Confirming the news, Talba expressed, “Yes, I can confirm to you that the Emir died after a brief illness. He was over 70 years old at the time of his death.”

As per Islamic customs, the first-class chief, who was the paramount ruler of the Karekare people, is scheduled to be buried by 4 pm on Saturday.

Alhaji Muhammadu Abubakar Ibn-Grema ascended the throne as Emir on July 25, 2001, and served for 23 years before his demise. His palace was situated in Nangere Local Government Area.
