Dortmund Eager for PSG Rematch After Epic Win Over Atletico in Champions League

Borussia Dortmund is eagerly anticipating a rematch with Paris St Germain in the Champions League semi-finals following their thrilling victory over Atletico Madrid.

Dortmund overturned a 2-1 deficit from the quarter-final first leg against Atletico to secure a 5-4 aggregate win, setting the stage for a showdown with PSG, whom they faced in the group stage.

Dortmund coach Edin Terzic believes his team, the 1997 Champions League winners, is now better prepared to face the French champions after their earlier encounters.

“Our first game against them wasn’t good. In the second game, we adjusted to them better and were closer to victory. I think we’re a better team today than we were against them in the group stage,” Terzic commented.

Midfielder Julian Brandt, who opened the scoring for Dortmund, expressed disbelief at their dramatic journey to the semi-finals but emphasized their determination to perform better against PSG.

“It was a crazy game for the fans and for us. A great game for us, for our fans, and for all football fans around the world. It’s going to be very serious now against Paris. We played well against them at home in the group stage, but not well away. We want to do better now and, of course, reach the final,” Brandt stated.

Striker Niclas Fuellkrug, also on the scoresheet, acknowledged the significance of reaching the Champions League semi-finals for the first time.

“I’ve never played at this level before and I’m very proud to be in the semi-finals of the Champions League with my team. Things will certainly be different against Paris than in the group stage,” Fuellkrug remarked.

Dortmund’s epic win over Atletico has set the stage for an exciting rematch with PSG, as they aim to advance to the final stage of the prestigious tournament.
