The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, has passed away at the age of 56. His death was confirmed on Wednesday in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President, Bayo Onanuga.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, regrets to announce the passing of Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, Chief of the Army Staff,” the statement read, expressing the President’s deep sorrow over the loss.

Further details surrounding his passing have yet to be disclosed, but his death marks a significant loss for the Nigerian military and the nation.
