Bobrisky Departs Nigeria Amid Ongoing Legal Issues

Written by on November 4, 2024

Controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has reportedly left Nigeria shortly after his release from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). While he did not disclose his destination, Bobrisky shared on his Instagram story that he traveled on a first-class ticket.

In his posts, he boasted, “See you soon, Nigeria. This girl bought a first-class ticket three times; that’s over 30 million. Raise the bar for this girl.” He also humorously commented on the state of his passport photo, stating, “That passport disfigured my picture.”

Bobrisky’s departure follows a tumultuous series of events that transpired the previous week. He was removed from an Amsterdam-bound KLM flight at Murtala Muhammed International Airport while attempting to travel to London. During this incident, he claimed to have sustained injuries and later communicated with his followers via social media.

After the flight altercation, Bobrisky was taken to the EFCC headquarters in Abuja, where he faced questioning regarding allegations of bribing officials with N15 million to drop money laundering charges against him. He was released on bail on Saturday after denying the bribery claims during his interrogation.

Bobrisky’s legal troubles began in April 2024, when he was sentenced to six months in prison for naira abuse. Initially incarcerated at Kirikiri Prison, reports indicate that he spent only three weeks in confinement before being discreetly moved to an undisclosed private location.

The situation escalated in September when social media influencer Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, released an audio recording purportedly featuring Bobrisky discussing bribing EFCC officials to dismiss the money laundering charges against him.
