Anambra First Lady Celebrates Children’s Day with Orphans

In celebration of Children’s Day, Nonye Soludo, the wife of Anambra State Governor, called for enhanced welfare, love, and kindness toward children across Nigeria to assure them of a bright future. Her remarks came during a visit to the Model Community Children Home in Awka on Sunday.
Soludo stressed the importance of providing care and compassion to children, especially those in orphanages. During her visit, she personally cooked and distributed meals to the children and donated relief items, including cash.
Speaking to journalists, Soludo emphasized the critical role children play as the future of the country and the need to groom and protect them regardless of their family backgrounds. “Children’s Day is significant for giving children a sense of belonging and assuring them that their future is bright. They are the future of the nation and need utmost care and protection,” she said.
She highlighted the spirit of Children’s Day as a time to connect with children and improve their lives. “The visit today is to celebrate with them and show that they are loved. By cooking and serving meals, I aim to demonstrate motherly love and assure them that society cares for them.”
Soludo also used the occasion to raise awareness about issues affecting children and encouraged society to express love and care for their welfare. She called on everyone to create safe and conducive environments where children can learn, develop a fear of God, and thrive.
Rev. Sister Philomena Akuchukwu, Coordinator of Model Community Children’s Home, expressed her appreciation for Soludo, describing her as a caring and God-fearing mother. She pledged that the orphanage would continue to pray for a better Anambra and support Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s potential second term.
The celebration included cooking, meal servings, cutting a Children’s Day cake, and various games and presentations by the children, all witnessed by the governor’s wife and her entourage.
