The Kogi State Police Command has successfully rescued five individuals who were kidnapped earlier in the Aresuare area of Ajaokota, Kogi Central. The rescue operation took place in Adogo forest near Ajaokota, led by SP Yusuf Hantsi in collaboration with local vigilantes on Thursday.

According to a statement issued by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Aya, the victims were abducted on 17/5/2024 while traveling along the Ajaokuta-Adogo road.

The police operatives, during a rescue mission, located the kidnappers’ hideout in the bush. A gun duel ensued, but the police team’s superior firepower forced the hoodlums to abandon their captives and flee. Fortunately, all the victims were rescued unharmed.

Additionally, in another incident, armed hoodlums in an unregistered golden-colored Muzzle Camry opened fire in the Ojode area of Ankpa, resulting in the death of one Iliyasu Abubakar and another individual sustaining a bullet wound to the right chest.

Upon receiving a tip-off, the Divisional Police Officer of Ankpa Division, CSP Chikamnele Amaralam, swiftly responded and mobilized his team to the scene. The police engaged the criminals, prompting them to flee and abandon an AK 47 Rifle with breech number 354951 and two live ammunition rounds.
