Kano Police Apprehend Suspect for Friend’s Murder Over Failed Job Promise

The Kano State Police Command has apprehend Sadiq Zubairu for allegedly killing his friend, Bello Adam, after reneging on a promise to assist him in securing employment, despite receiving N3 million.

Zubairu, who previously worked with Adam at the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), had pledged to help him land a job at the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).

According to sources familiar with the case, Zubairu duped Adam by offering him false hope of employment at FIRS. When his promises fell through and Adam demanded answers, Zubairu invited him to his home and carried out the fatal assault.

Reports from the police indicate that Zubairu invited Adam to his residence, where he restrained him and subjected him to a brutal attack using sticks and sharp objects, resulting in his death.

On May 5, 2024, Adam’s family reported him missing after he failed to return home with his car. Subsequently, the police received information about a deceased male discovered near Bechi Village in Kumbotso Local Government Area. Investigations led to Zubairu’s arrest the following day.

During interrogation, Zubairu admitted to collaborating with two others to lure Adam to his house, where they fatally assaulted him. He confessed to deceiving Adam into giving him N3 million under false pretenses, knowing he couldn’t fulfill his promises, which ultimately led to the fatal attack.

The police recovered Adam’s vehicle and Zubairu’s mobile phone. Zubairu remains in custody pending further investigation and prosecution for his alleged involvement in the crime.
