The Consulate-General of India in Nigeria, Shri Chandramouli Kern, is optimistic about the deepening of bilateral relations between India and Nigeria, particularly in the field of healthcare.
Kern expressed his confidence during the inauguration of StarCare International Hospital, a prominent provider of primary and specialized medical services located in Ikeja, Lagos State. He reiterated India’s commitment to supporting Nigeria across various sectors, emphasizing the significance of the hospital’s establishment in Lagos as a significant stride in Nigeria’s healthcare landscape.
The event witnessed the presence of notable dignitaries including the monarch of Ikate Kingdom in Surulere, Oba Lateef Adams; Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fayoade Adegoke, and President of the Indian Cultural Association, Mr. Sanjay Jain.
Dr. Ashraff Mohammad, Chairman and Managing Director of StarCare International Hospital, pledged to elevate the healthcare system in Nigeria. This commitment involves introducing cutting-edge medical facilities, advanced technology, and a team of internationally trained doctors from both India and Nigeria.
Dr. Mohammad underscored the transformative impact of advanced surgical procedures such as minimally invasive surgeries, laparoscopic surgeries, laser proctology surgeries, and laser spine surgeries in enhancing healthcare delivery.
Furthermore, he highlighted the introduction of specialized services such as endoscopic spine surgeries, cosmetic gynaecology surgeries, bariatric (weight loss) surgeries, and arthroscopy (sports medicine) procedures, which are currently scarce in Nigeria.
Dr. Mohammad assured Nigerians of access to expert consultants at the hospital, ensuring uninterrupted delivery of high-quality care and services.
During a comprehensive tour of the facility, Dr. Mohammad showcased its modern infrastructure, including the Outpatient Department (OPD) complex, inpatient wards, private rooms, ICU-NICU complex, OT complex, and labor rooms.
He emphasized the hospital’s mission to raise the standard of care to international levels, thereby reducing the necessity for Nigerians to seek medical treatment abroad. StarCare aims to become a cornerstone in Nigeria’s medical landscape, ensuring that top-tier healthcare is readily accessible to all citizens within the country.
In a commendation, Lagos CP, Adegoke, lauded the facility and expressed the readiness of the Lagos Police Command to collaborate with the hospital in providing healthcare services.
