House of Representatives Committee Applauds Jim Ovia’s Appointment as NELFUND Chairman

The House of Representatives Committee on Student Loans, Scholarships, and Higher Education Financing has extended congratulations to Mr. Jim Ovia, founder of Zenith Bank Nigeria Plc, on his recent appointment as Chairman of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).

President Bola Tinubu appointed Ovia to the position on April 26, 2024, following the law signed on April 3, 2024, granting the President the authority to appoint the board and management of NELFUND.

In a congratulatory letter dated May 2 and made available to journalists on Monday, the Chairman of the Committee, Adegboyega Isiaka, commended Ovia for his exemplary leadership and intellectual prowess, expressing confidence in his ability to lead NELFUND to greater achievements.

The letter emphasized Ovia’s distinguished career and visionary leadership in the financial sector, highlighting his strategic thinking and managerial acumen as assets that will benefit NELFUND.

Isiaka, representing Egbado North/Imeko Afon Federal Constituency, Ogun State, underscored the importance of strong leadership and integrity for the success and sustainability of NELFUND. He praised Ovia’s qualities of technical expertise, innovation, passion, and integrity, essential for the Fund’s mission of ensuring accessible higher education for all students.

The Committee reiterated its commitment to collaborating with Ovia and the NELFUND board to advance the President’s initiative and utilize education as a tool for poverty alleviation in the nation.
