Defence Headquarters Declares 97 Persons, Including Simon Ekpa, Wanted for Various Crimes

Written by on March 23, 2024

The Defence Headquarters has announced that 97 individuals are wanted for their involvement in violent crimes across the country. This list includes terrorists, insurgents, and other criminals. Notably, Simon Ekpa, a factional leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), is among those declared wanted.

Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, released the names and photographs of the wanted persons on Friday. Unlike previous declarations where bounties were offered for information leading to the arrest of wanted individuals, no such incentives were mentioned this time.

Breakdown by Regions:

North West Zone: 43 persons, including Alhaji Shingi, Malindi Yakubu, and Boka, were declared wanted due to their involvement in banditry and other crimes.

North East: 33 persons, such as Abu Zaida, Modu Sulum, and Baba Data, were listed for their connections with Boko Haram and the Islamic State for West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists.

South-East and North Central: 21 individuals, including Simon Ekpa, Chika Edoziem, and Egede, were declared wanted for insurgency and other violent criminal activities.

It’s essential to note that this list represents individuals sought by the Defence Headquarters for their alleged involvement in various criminal activities, and they have not been convicted in a court of law.
