Written by on March 4, 2024

The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado-Bayero, has called upon traders to reduce the prices of essential goods and food items, facilitating easier observance of Ramadan for the masses.

Speaking during the launch of the book “Dauloli a Kasar Hausa” (Kingdoms in Hausaland) by Prof. Sa’idu-Mohammed Gusau in Zaria, the royal leader emphasized the importance of easing financial burdens during the sacred month.

Ado-Bayero also urged affluent individuals to extend assistance to the less privileged, embodying the spirit of compassion and generosity synonymous with Ramadan.

Expressing prayers for the well-being of the people, the Emir invoked divine protection and acceptance of prayers and sacrifices during the holy month.

Commending the comprehensive exploration of Hausa kingdoms in the book, Ado-Bayero lauded the publisher for shedding light on the administrative systems, trades, and cultural heritage of regions like Kano, Katsina, Zamfara, Kebbi, and Zazzau.

“The book elucidates the governance structures, societal norms, and economic activities prevalent in each kingdom,” remarked the Emir.

Professor Ahmed Zaria, the book reviewer from Kaduna State University, highlighted the scholarly significance of the publication, spanning seven chapters and delving into the rich history and political dynamics of the Hausa kingdoms.

Zaria emphasized the book’s relevance for students and researchers in linguistics and history, advocating for continued academic engagement in research endeavours.

Publisher Prof. Gusau underscored the importance of documenting the history of Hausa kingdoms comprehensively, aiming to foster unity and harmony among diverse communities within Nigeria.

He emphasized the need to broaden research scope beyond individual kingdoms, promoting inclusivity and understanding among Nigerians.

Urging traders to reduce may not be vissible if the economy of the country it self is not addressed
