Governor Fubara Honors Super Eagles Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali with N20m Cash Gift and State Award Nomination

In a gesture of appreciation for his outstanding performance, Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State hosted Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, at the Rivers State Government House, where he announced a cash gift of N20 million to the athlete. The ceremony, held at the Executive Council Chambers, also saw the governor nominating Nwabali for the prestigious Distinguished Service Star of Rivers State (DSSRS) award, reserved for individuals who have excelled in their profession or made significant contributions to the state.
Nwabali, hailing from the Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, received accolades for his remarkable goalkeeping skills, particularly during the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament. Governor Fubara praised Nwabali’s dedication and performance, emphasizing the pride he brought to Nigeria through his stellar contributions to the Super Eagles team.
Additionally, the governor extended his gratitude to the entire Super Eagles crew, including Coach Jose Peseiro and Finidi George, by awarding them a collective cash reward of N30 million for their efforts at the AFCON tournament.
Recognizing the achievements of the Rivers Hoopers, the State Basketball Team, Governor Fubara presented them with a generous gift of N50 million for emerging as champions of the National Basketball League.
During the ceremony, Governor Fubara emphasized the importance of encouraging and celebrating excellence, stating that purposeful governance and administrative efficiency play crucial roles in motivating individuals to achieve greatness. He urged the people of Rivers State to engage in positive endeavours that promote honour and pride for the state, reaffirming his commitment to creating an enabling environment for continued success and recognition on both national and global stages.
