The Everlasting Arms Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Garki, Abuja, on Sunday provided food items, clothes, and shoes to over 2,000 vulnerable residents as part of its annual Tabitha Tent initiative.

The programme, which began in 2007, aims to support the poor with humanitarian materials, especially during the Christmas season.

Beneficiaries expressed gratitude, urging the government to implement similar initiatives to alleviate hardship. “If not for Redeemed Church, what would be our hope?” said Mr. Gonet Jato, a recipient.

Pastor Everistus Azodo, overseeing the initiative, encouraged well-off Nigerians to assist the needy, noting the absence of functional social safety nets in the country. “We all have to pull together to help our people,” he added.

The church also offers skill acquisition programmes to empower vulnerable individuals for self-reliance.
