The Governing Council of the Federal University, Lokoja, has sanctioned the dismissal of four lecturers due to examination and sexual misconduct.
Punch reports indicate that the decision was reached during the council’s second meeting held on Thursday.
This development follows an investigation initiated last year concerning allegations of exam malpractices and sexual harassment involving the lecturers.
Presided over by Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, the council commended the university’s administration for adhering to due process throughout the investigation into the alleged misconducts.
Ndoma-Egba remarked, “The council will not tolerate any unethical conduct in the university,” emphasizing the importance of expediting investigations into any pending cases, particularly one involving the Faculty of Science that has gained media attention.
The council warned university staff and lecturers against any form of student harassment, stressing that no form of misconduct would be ignored. It also encouraged students to come forward if they experience any form of harassment.
