Abia State Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, confirmed the deaths of a bank employee, Mr. Victor Udensi, and two others during an armed robbery in Umuahia. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening when Udensi was accosted by three armed men operating a tricycle near the Isi Court area of Olokoro.

According to CP Isa, the assailants attempted to force Udensi into the trunk of his car around 8 p.m. “Udensi resisted them and as he was running to escape, the assailants fired shots at his back, leaving him in a pool of his blood,” he stated.

After failing to start Udensi’s car, the gunmen confronted another driver in a Toyota Camry. “As they attempted to forcefully collect his car key, the driver resisted the armed men. They however did not take this lightly as they shot at him, killing him instantly,” Isa explained.

In their escape towards Ubakala, the gunmen shot the driver of a tricycle they felt was obstructing their getaway.

Eyewitnesses reported that passersby rushed Udensi to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. CP Isa assured the public that a manhunt for the assailants is underway, emphasizing the police’s commitment to bringing the perpetrators to justice.
