A recent attack by suspected kidnappers in Edo State has claimed the lives of four individuals, including a policeman, a company driver, an expatriate, and another quarry worker. One policeman is currently in critical condition and receiving care at the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital.
The attack occurred on Thursday near Ihievbe-Ogbe, known as Agor, in the Owan East Local Government Area. Reports indicate that the policemen were shot while attempting to protect the expatriate, who was targeted by the kidnappers.
A local resident suggested that the incident may be linked to the withdrawal of vigilante groups from the roads before the recent governorship election in Edo State. He noted, “The vigilante members, well-acquainted with the terrain, have been vital in assisting police efforts.”
Moses Yamu, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident, stating, “An investigation is underway, and we are collaborating with the military to capture the suspects.”
