President Bola Tinubu formally submitted a bill to the National Assembly on Tuesday, proposing an increase in the National Minimum Wage from ₦30,000 to ₦70,000.
In letters addressed to both the Senate and the House of Representatives, Tinubu urged prompt consideration of the proposed amendment to the National Minimum Wage Act of 2019. The bill also aims to shorten the review period for the minimum wage from five years to three years.
The proposed wage increase follows a recent agreement with Organised Labour, where Tinubu confirmed ₦70,000 as the new minimum wage for Nigerian workers.
