Written by on July 18, 2024

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a new minimum wage of N70,000, according to the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris. This announcement follows a significant meeting between the government and organized labour.

The meeting included key labour leaders, such as Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), and Festus Osifo, President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC). The labour representatives arrived at the President’s office at around 2:15 PM in a white 32-seater Coaster bus, where discussions were held on the first floor.

This development marks a pivotal moment in the government’s engagement with labour organizations, addressing concerns about the economic welfare of workers in Nigeria.
