Evgeny Serebryakov, a Russian man suspected of orchestrating a car bombing that injured two people in Moscow, has been extradited from Turkey, the Russian interior ministry reported on Friday.
Serebryakov, born in 1995, was detained in the Turkish city of Bodrum on Wednesday. This arrest followed a bombing earlier in the day that damaged a car in northern Moscow.
Interior ministry spokeswoman Irina Volk confirmed in a Telegram post that “Serebryakov has been taken to Russia and handed over to investigators.”
The blast reportedly injured a Russian military officer, though authorities have yet to release the victim’s name.
Serebryakov faces charges including attempted murder and illegal possession of explosives. In a video broadcast by Russia’s FSB security service, he alleged that he acted “on the instructions of a Ukrainian security services operative.”
Since the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, there have been multiple car bombings targeting Russian military and pro-Kremlin figures. Ukraine typically denies direct involvement but often supports such actions against Russian officials and military personnel.
