Grammy Award-winning artist Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has inaugurated a new football academy with training hubs in Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt.
On Monday, infographics about the academy appeared online, revealing that it caters to young athletes aged 4 to 15, as well as those between 16 and 21 years old.
The academy’s mission, outlined on its website, emphasizes providing a comprehensive environment where children can master football basics while integrating education, discipline, and technique to achieve success both on and off the field.
“We aim to create an environment where kids can learn the fundamentals of football, combined with education, discipline, and technique, to excel in life beyond the sport,” the academy’s vision statement explained.
The academy’s website also lists several notable partners, including Premier League teams Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City, and Brighton, along with Championship club Watford. Additionally, Scottish clubs Hearts and Hamilton are involved.
The academy’s junior division features facilities in Lekki and Surulere (Lagos), as well as in Abuja and Port Harcourt. Their training program operates three times a week, with each session lasting two hours.
Although the academy was only recently publicized, it appears to have been active for some time, as evidenced by their record of seven friendly matches posted online—featuring four victories, two losses, and one draw.
