This decline from their former 30th position marks a significant shift, reflecting challenges the team has faced on the international stage.
The drop in rankings follows Nigeria’s performance in recent matches, including a 1-1 draw against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, and a 2-1 defeat to Benin Republic in Ivory Coast. These results have cast doubt on Nigeria’s hopes for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
