Manchester United Appoints Ruben Amorim as New Manager to Replace Erik Ten Hag
Written by Jerry Alomatu on November 1, 2024
Manchester United has announced Ruben Amorim as its new manager, succeeding Erik ten Hag, who was dismissed earlier this week.
The 39-year-old Portuguese coach, who has previously led Sporting Lisbon to two Primeira Liga titles, will join United on November 11, 2024, pending work visa requirements. Signed through June 2027, with an option for an additional year, Amorim’s first game in charge will be against Ipswich on November 24.
The club praised Amorim as “one of the most exciting and highly rated young coaches in European football,” noting his success with Sporting CP, where he broke the club’s 19-year title drought.
Until Amorim’s arrival, former United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy will lead the squad and has expressed motivation to help the team improve as they prepare for a key match against Chelsea.
