Written by on July 9, 2024

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has revealed that the refurbished Olympic-size swimming pool, warm-up pool, and a 250-seater spectator’s stand at the Rowe Park Sports Centre in Yaba will soon be accessible to the public.

Speaking at the distribution of sports equipment to schools by the Lagos State Sports Trust Fund (LSSTF), Governor Sanwo-Olu commended LSSTF for its dedication to youth development through sports. The Governor, represented by Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Bolaji Ogunlende, praised LSSTF’s recognition of the pivotal role of sports in youth development.

In his words, “In addition to the equipment being distributed, LSSTF has completed the reconstruction of an Olympic-size swimming pool, warm-up pool, and a 250-seater spectator’s stand at Rowe Park Sports Centre, Yaba. This project will soon be commissioned, and we anticipate a significant increase in swimming medals for Lagos State in future competitions.”

Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted LSSTF’s rehabilitation of five outdoor sports courts and the construction of additional facilities such as showers and toilets at Rowe Park. These enhancements, he noted, are aimed at engaging youth positively and nurturing future champions for the state.

Executive Secretary of LSSTF, Olaposi Agunbiade, credited the success of these projects and donations to the substantial support from Governor Sanwo-Olu and generous donors.
