Lagos State Government Denies Reinstatement of Monthly Environmental Sanitation
Written by Jerry Alomatu on July 18, 2024
The Lagos State Government has dismissed claims circulating yesterday about the reintroduction of the monthly environmental sanitation and the accompanying restriction of movement starting in July.
Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, issued a statement calling the viral news misleading and the work of troublemakers aiming to confuse the public.
Wahab clarified that there will be no restrictions on movement on the last Saturday of July as the false reports had suggested.
He noted, ”The Governor indicated that state government officials will lead by example, participating in weekly voluntary cleaning activities alongside residents while promoting environmental cleanliness.
“At no point did the Governor announce that the monthly sanitation exercise and movement restrictions would resume in July or any subsequent month.”
