The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company Plc (IBEDC) has completed a significant upgrade to its electricity infrastructure in Ogun State’s Sango/Ota area, marking a major improvement in power supply reliability for over 10,000 customers.

IBEDC spokesperson Busolami Tunwase said,“the company said this upgrade is set to significantly improve power supply reliability for customers in the region, Punch reports.

Key upgrades include the migration of the SANGO 33KV feeder to a new, more powerful T3 100MVA, 132KV/33KV transformer at the Ota Transmission Station, as well as the introduction of a dedicated ROTOCROWN 33KV feeder.

“These enhancements are designed to cater to the increasing electricity demands and ensure superior service quality for over 10,241 IBEDC customers,” Tunwase said. The new transformer setup supports three key feeders: ROTOCROWN 33KV, TOWER ALLOY 33KV, and SANGO 33KV.

IBEDC highlighted that the improved Sango 33KV feeder will particularly benefit communities including Alishiba, Ilogbo, Bayo Block, Animashaun, and Ewupe. These upgrades are expected to provide a more consistent and reliable electricity supply, enhancing the quality of life for both residents and businesses in the region.

Francis Agoha, Acting Managing Director of IBEDC, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to service excellence and infrastructure investment. “This upgrade reflects our dedication to improving the electricity infrastructure within our operational areas. The increased transformer capacity at the Ota Transmission Station will help us meet growing demands and ensure a more stable power supply for the Sango/Ota area,” Agoha stated.

The upgrades are part of IBEDC’s broader strategy to modernize the power distribution network and boost overall customer satisfaction.
