House of Representatives Mourns the Passing of Ekene Abubakar Adams, Labour Party Lawmaker

Written by on July 16, 2024

Ekene Abubakar Adams, the Honourable representing Chikun/Kajuru constituency of Kaduna State under the Labour Party (LP), has tragically passed away at the age of 39.

Adams, who was also the chairman of the House Committee on Sports, breathed his last on Tuesday morning. His tenure in sports administration included notable roles as the general manager of Kada City Football Club and Remo Stars, reflecting his deep commitment to sports development and youth empowerment.

In a heartfelt tribute, Akin Rotimi, spokesperson for the House, described Adams as a dedicated public servant, passionate sports administrator, and compassionate philanthropist. He was widely admired for his unwavering dedication to grassroots sports in Nigeria and his significant contributions to legislative activities.

Adams’ untimely demise follows closely on the heels of the recent passing of Olaide Adewale Akinremi, a fellow House member representing Ibadan North constituency. The House of Representatives has now mourned the loss of three members in 2024, including Isa Dogonyaro from Jigawa State earlier in the year.

The Nigerian legislative chamber is deeply saddened by these losses, which have left a profound void in the realm of public service. Adams’ legacy as a lawmaker and sports enthusiast will be cherished, and his absence will be keenly felt by his colleagues and constituents alike.
