Federal Government to Prosecute #EndBadGovernance Protest Leaders for Alleged Treason

The Federal Government is set to prosecute several leaders and organizers of the #EndBadGovernance protests, which occurred from August 1 to 10, 2024. The defendants face serious charges including treason, inciting mutiny, and attempts to destabilize Nigeria.
The ten individuals scheduled to appear before Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court include Michael Adaramoye (also known as Lenin), Adeyemi Abayomi, Suleiman Yakubu, Opaoluwa Simon, Angel Innocent, Buhari Lawal, Mosiu Sadiq, Bashir Bello, Nuradeen Khamis, and Abdulsalam Zubairu. British national Andrew Wynne, also known as Andrew Povich, is also among the accused.
The charges outlined in the case marked FHC/ABJ/CR/454/2024, include treason and other offenses related to destabilizing the country, intimidating the President, and vandalizing government and security facilities. The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, alleges that the defendants conspired to disrupt national stability and incite public unrest.
