Domestic Workers Arrested in Gruesome Murder of Judge’s Daughter; New Confession Reveals Shocking Details

Written by on August 2, 2024

New details have surfaced regarding the tragic murder of Aribemchukwu, daughter of Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia, who was found dead in her Parkview Estate, Ikoyi apartment on Tuesday night.

The revelation came through the confession of one of her domestic workers, 21-year-old Peter Abigiel. Abigiel, along with two accomplices, Olatunji Oluwasegun, 35, and Umaru Mamman, 45, was apprehended by the police.

According to sources close to the investigation, Abigiel, who served as a maid, admitted during questioning that the victim, a medical doctor known as Chuchu, was restrained and fatally stabbed in the neck.

Chuchu, in her early 30s and the eldest of two siblings, lived alone with her domestic staff. Abigiel further revealed that the motive behind the crime was to steal cash and other valuables from the apartment.

The lifeless body of Chuchu was discovered outside her residence around 6:45 am on Wednesday, July 31, 2024. Abigiel’s confession has validated the suspicions of the grieving family that Chuchu was murdered inside her apartment and her body discarded outside.

Following their arrest, the three suspects were kept in separate cells for interrogation. While Oluwasegun and Mamman denied involvement in the murder, Abigiel confessed during her interview. Sources indicate that when the suspects were brought together, Abigiel detailed each person’s role in the crime.

Abigiel explained to detectives that they used a cloth to strangle Chuchu. While she struggled, one of the perpetrators gagged her and stabbed her. Upon realizing that Chuchu had died, Oluwasegun and Mamman allegedly dragged her body out of the apartment under the cover of darkness and cleaned up the bloodstains.

Abigiel claimed that after the murder, they ransacked the apartment, took the valuables they wanted, and planned to escape by morning.

Lagos State Police Commissioner, CP Adegoke Fayoade, addressed the situation, stating that detectives traced traces of blood not properly cleaned to the crime scene. He remarked, “The driver tried to deny his involvement, but the maid insisted they were all complicit. Evidence of their attempt to clean up the blood was found, and they were caught with some of the deceased’s stolen valuables.”
