Caleb University’s Maiden Employability Fair: A Resounding Success, Connecting Students with Industry Leaders and Career Opportunities

Caleb University Imota Lagos, July 30, 2024 — Caleb University has set a new standard for career development with its first-ever Employability Fair, which concluded today after two impactful days. The event, which began on July 29, brought together 32 top CEOs and industry leaders, offering students unparalleled opportunities for Jobs, networking, and career advancement.
The fair’s opening day was marked by an inspiring welcome address from the Vice Chancellor, Prof Nosa Owens-Ibie. He emphasized the importance of focus and dedication, encouraging students to capitalize on the fair’s offerings. “Organizations today are looking for solution providers rather than liabilities,” Prof. Nosa Owens-Ibie. “This fair is a platform to unlock your potential and make a meaningful impact in your future careers.”
Prof. Olalekan Asikhia, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and convener of the fair, further enriched the event with his insights on trust, excellence, and balancing professional and personal life. Prof. Olalekan assured attendees that the fair is set to expand and evolve, promising even greater opportunities in the future.
The keynote address by former Minister of Works, Adeseye Ogunlewe, captivated the audience with his emphasis on maintaining a healthy lifestyle and the role of family support. Reflecting on his own experiences, Ogunlewe shared how his disciplined lifestyle has contributed to his longevity and well-being.
The event featured numerous interactive sessions, including on-the-spot job interviews and one-on-one interactions with leading CEOs.
Among the notable figures present was Dr. Omagu Emmanuel from Bank of Industry, who spoke on personal branding and adaptability; Dr. Adeola Ogunyemi from Ecobank, who discussed leadership as a behavior; Mrs. Tope Adeoya from Stanbic IBTC, who highlighted initiatives aimed at empowering young graduates.
Mrs. Ibitola Shogunde from MTN urged students to embrace digital learning and the use of AI to enhance their daily lives. Meanwhile, Mr. Tope Adeniyi from AXA Mansard Limited shared his principles for success, focusing on vision, passion, and the value of delayed gratification.
In addition, Mr. Ephraim from Nestlé Nigeria highlighted the importance of self-belief and clarity of goals, while Otunba Sola Enitan emphasized professionalism and the value of service. Mr. Chike from Fanice PLC encouraged students to seek mentorship and stay focused.
Mr. Akinwale Akinjide from CITA Energy stressed the importance of offering value and maintaining a forward-moving mindset. The fair also saw Mr. Odunlana Ebenezer from Sosa introduce a graduate training program, and Mr. Dare Durosinmi from Lagos Traffic Radio explained the significance of real-time traffic information in daily life.
