Britain’s ‘heaviest man’ succumbs to organ failure days prior to his 34th birthday

Jason Holton, one of Britain’s “heaviest men”, passed away from organ failure just a week shy of his 34th birthday, his family revealed.

Holton, who weighed approximately 317kg, died last Saturday in Surrey after his organs began to fail, despite efforts by doctors. His mother, Leisa, 55, recounted how six firefighters had to assist in transporting him to the Royal Surrey County Hospital following an ambulance ride.

According to Leisa, Holton’s kidneys were the first organs to cease functioning, and doctors predicted that he would not survive beyond a week.

“Jason soon started to go downhill,” she shared. “He’s probably had about eight lives, and I thought the doctors would be able to save him again, but sadly it wasn’t possible.”

Holton’s cause of death was determined to be organ failure and obesity, as stated in the coroner’s report.

Living in a specially adapted council bungalow with reinforced furniture for his comfort, Holton faced immobility, bed confinement, and respiratory issues in his later years.

His struggles with overeating began in his teens following his father’s passing, leading him to consume a staggering 10,000 calories daily, often starting his day with doner kebabs for breakfast.

In 2020, Holton’s plight gained public attention when he collapsed and had to be airlifted from a third-floor flat by a team of over 30 firefighters.
