Anthony Joshua Favors Accountancy Over Boxing for Son

Anthony Joshua, the British heavyweight boxer, has voiced concerns about his son, Joseph Joshua (JJ), pursuing a professional boxing career, describing it as an unwise decision. In a recent interview on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs, Joshua expressed a preference for JJ to explore a career in accountancy instead.
Reflecting on his own tumultuous youth, which included encounters with the law and homelessness at 17, Joshua credited boxing with redirecting his energy positively when he started at 18. His career milestones include a notable victory over Wladimir Klitschko in 2017, cementing his status as a top heavyweight.
Despite winning his first 22 professional bouts, Joshua faced a significant setback in 2022 when he failed to reclaim the unified WBO, WBA, and IBF heavyweight titles from Oleksandr Usyk. This defeat, Joshua admitted, had a profound impact, prompting him to retreat into isolation for five days to recover mentally.
Joshua emphasized the importance of JJ forging his own path and being the best version of himself, suggesting that understanding numbers through accountancy could provide a solid foundation for his future endeavors.
