Access Bank and Mastercard Forge Partnership to Boost Cross-Border Payments

Access Bank and Mastercard Join Forces to Enhance Cross-Border Payments Access Bank Group has introduced an innovative solution in partnership with Mastercard to broaden access to cross-border payments and remittances to and from the African continent.
By harnessing the network and treasury capabilities of Mastercard Move, Access Bank, through its state-of-the-art Access Africa platform, will empower individuals and businesses to engage in instant, traceable, seamless, and cost-effective international transactions spanning over 150 countries.
This collaboration underscores the shared dedication of both entities to the African economy, offering a financially inclusive solution that enhances liquidity and capital in the markets while reducing international transaction costs incurred by businesses and consumers during international payments.
During the media launch in Lagos, Robert Giles, Senior Advisory of Retail Banking at Access Bank, expressed his excitement regarding the partnership with Mastercard. He highlighted the collaboration’s aim to drive financial inclusion in Africa through the Access Africa initiative.
“By pooling our strengths, we can unlock fresh opportunities, bridge the financial gap, and foster a more inclusive and prosperous future for all Africans,” Giles remarked.
“Customers in Access Bank’s operating countries in Africa are now empowered to conduct cross-border payments globally through various channels including bank accounts, mobile wallets, cards, and cash. “As of today, the newly introduced solution will be operational across Africa, with plans for further expansion across the continent. This solution serves as a global gateway for businesses and individuals leveraging Access Bank Group’s comprehensive understanding of African markets and forward-looking vision aimed at realizing customers’ aspirations through innovative product offerings,” Giles added.
Commenting on the partnership, Mark Elliott, Division President for Africa at Mastercard, expressed pride in empowering Access Bank customers with innovative solutions prioritizing choice, security, and flexibility.
